"Strummings for Our Community" . . . stress reduction with music. (Download 2011/12 Schedule below.)
"What is a Strumming ? ? ?" Now that is a questions we have often been asked. The answer is pretty simple. A Strumming is a "stress reducing musical event" where all attendees double as members of the band. Now, don't start backing up . . . I am talking about good - clean - healthy FUN for the entire family! The key is "musical talent is appreciated, but not required." So, everyone can attend, from newborn through senior citizens - everyone is welcome and everyone enjoys the results!
Tresa has been collecting primitive instruments since she was a child. They include bells, cymbals, rattles, singing bowls, blocks, drums, tamberines, xylephones, harps and more. One day, she realized that these instruments might really help people to unwind from the great stresses of daily life. Tresa phoned a few friends and sent out an e-mail about the idea . . . and . . . 24 people attended the 1st Strumming.
We have scheduled strummings on various evenings over the past 2 years, but have found that we have the best attendance when we schedule near a full moon. Research reveals that people "feel more stress" during full moons.
* "When the moon is full, stress becomes a major factor and people become more sensitive
Strumming Instruments to details. An overload of work will add to the frustration and people will deal with their own
needs rather than paying attention to others' needs."
