"Our Personal Cancer Journey"

CAPPED staff and volunteers offer a listening ear, strong support and information services to cancer patients/survivors on a continuing basis.  On 21 October, 2011 CAPPED was privileged to provide a special opportunity for cancer patients/survivors and their caregivers to attend an evening of inspiration and hope entitled "Our Personal Cancer Journey".  A delicious catered dinner was provided to begin the evening.  The guest speaker, Paul, was introduced by Debbie Putt, Communications & Outreach Manager for the sponsor of the event, New Mexico Cancer Care Alliance.  Paul, a cancer survivor who is retired from the Air Force and lives in Virginia, and his wife, who is also his care giver, related the story of their own personal cancer journey.  Paul's motto, "Persevere & Never Give Up", resonated on many levels with the attendees.  At the end of the presentation an open forum provided the guests with an opportunity to ask questions and interact with Paul and his wife.  Although the subject was serious, the evening was upbeat and positive for everyone involved.
