The History of CAPPED
...And We Got... This!

On June 17, 2003 the CAPPED building opened it's doors to the public. If they could have seen the transformation that took place, they would have been astounded! Our volunteers and supporting organizations all came through to turn the dream into reality; now the Alamogordo area has a place to teach, support, and comfort those who are dealing with the terrible consequences of cancer. To all our Angels, THANK YOU! And to those who came to see us, just look at the wonderful things they did!

CAPPED Administrator, Tresa VanWinkle, R.N., cuts the ribbon at a ceremony dedicating the CAPPED building to the public.

A wonderful display area for the front window was constructed and decorated by volunteers to greet our visitors.

Inside the front door, the rubble had been magically changed into a wonderful giftshop, selling items to help raise funds for the operation of CAPPED.

Next to the giftshop, where sagging shelves and peeling paint once were, a cozy comfort area awaits our new visitors.

Instead of barren walls, our visitors can sit in a comfortable learning center, to search for the knowledge they need to deal with cancer.

And while many people consider working at the office little better than a dungeon, the CAPPED Administrator can't make that complaint anymore...

The halls are not all echoes and dust anymore; now they are filled with warmth and laughter.

Our wonderful volunteers took care of every need, including the basics.

To support our dinners and other group functions, we have a full kitchen that sprang from the rubble!

Seminars, meetings, dinners, and other events now won't have to be in a cold, dusty room with creaking floors, because we have a wonderful place for them now.
