CAPPED Sun Safe Program . . .
Help keep this vital cancer prevention program in our schools to help protect our children from skin cancer.
For the past 9 years, CAPPED has been serving the children of Otero County and Southern New Mexico with the enlightening CAPPED Sun Safe Program, which not only engages their attention but also educates our children about how to prevent skin cancers during their lifetime. The state grant we have used to purchase materials for this program since 2004 was eliminated in 2011 due to cutbacks by the federal government. Without substantial community support before March of 2012, the CAPPED Sun Safe Program's "I am Sun Safe !" will not be echoing through hallways and eager children will not be filling the cafeterials of our elementary schools to learn. We have set a standard with the program that has been quite successful, but we must have a bucket hat for each child and a color pamphlet for every parent for it to work! Check out how you can get involved with this wonderful educational program. For the CAPPED Sun Safe Program is to continue in 2012, we must generate funding for the bucket hats and the sun safe flyers. Please consider becoming a Sun Safe Sponsor as an individual, a business, a church or a civic organization: $ 120.00 to reach 1 classroom $1,200.00 to reach 1 elementary school To learn more about this vital program, select Programs, Free Programs, CAPPED Sun Safe Program. |
Classroom and School Sponsorships make it possible to reach all of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade
