CAPPED Sun Safe Program . . .
The CAPPED Sun Safe Program was developed in 2002 and tested at Sacramento Elementary School in 2003. It was a huge success and with the help of Principal Paul Sena, we expanded into the elementary schools in Otero County in 2004. The program expanded each year and eventually reached children in Lincoln and Dona Ana Counties as well as Otero County from 2008-2010. In 2011, the funding for Sun Safetly programs from the federal government was eliminated, but we were able to continue the program. Through 2011, we reached more than 28,000 children with the message of sun safety . . .
If the CAPPED Sun Safe Program is to continue in 2012, we must generate funding for the bucket hats and the sun safe flyers. The cost is:
$ 120.00 to reach 1 classroom
$1,200.00 to reach 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students at 1 elementary school
